BranchCache and Config Manager:
Available only in Windows 7 & 2008
Two Modes: Hosted and Distributed – can be set through group policy -enablement, cache size, bandwidth size
Distribution for Config Manager peer-to-peer download- Requires additional space in clients (Cache Content)- Only within subnet (so each subnet should download once) – clients should be ON for download – content cache security through NTFS ACL.
BranchCache is compatible with VPN software that supports split tunneling
Ports: 80 and 3702.
Firewall: Requires program exception
Saran, this is a good start. Though it may be a repetition, for the sake of completeness and to create a reading flow, can you please add "what", "when" and "why" aspects to your topics. What is BrachCache, What is Config Manager, When to use these and why (i.e. benefits). You have very briefly covered the how, which is good.
ReplyDeleteAlso, if any real life example or scenario where this has been used (even if used in a lab) can be quoted, that will be very useful.
Highlighting the known issues and challenges will benefit as well.
